As night fell I noticed how much brighter the stars seemed, than usual. I heard the clips, squeaks, and rustles of bugs and animals moving around us, and I smelled the on coming rain racing across the sky.
"Wow. What a beautiful night, I've never imagined the world could be so, so aw inspiring." I mumbled to Marcus as he walked next to me, with the help of his crutch.
"I know what you mean. You read about the earth being a place of life and beauty but you don't truly understand its magnificence while in civilization," Marcus spoke.
I sighed and then yawned. It had been a very long day, full of repetition and some terrifying excitement. "What do you think happened?"
"I hace no idea. I've barely had any time to let it all sink in myslef." Marcus said, immediately knowing what I was talking about.
"I mean, that explosion. What could it have been? A bomb?"
"I don't think so, if it had been we would have died from radiaion or something."
"Well if it wasn't a bomb then what else could have causeed all tha..." I cut of and emediately began to tear up.
Marcus reached for my hand and squeezed it hard, trying to give me some comfort. "I know, I know. Lets find some were to sleep and talk about it later. We need to figure out what we are going to do any way."
"Alright." I let his hand go and after about fourt five minutes of continued walking we stumbled across a bolder with a somewhat large indentation that we could sit under.
I helped Marcus sit on the ground and began looking for the sweaters that I had packed because of the slowly creeping chill that was beginning to sting the night air.
"Here," Marcus told me. I looked at him to find that he had gotten a peach out of one of the packs he had been caring.
"Wow! I didn't even realize I was hungry," I said while my stomach growled from extreme lack of food. I grabbed the fruit and quickly bit into it. "Ym," I moaned as the sweet juice flowed into my dry and needy mouth. I chewed the flesh until it was a mushy, intoxicating soup and quickly swallowed it. My stomach gurgled because of the sudden food and I quickly took another bite to try to satisfy it.
After I finished the peach I threw the pit into the near bye brush and snuggled into Marcus as my innurds begged for more. I decided to not say anything about it because I didn't want to use any more food than neccesary. "Marcus, what are we going to do?"
He looked at me and kissed my hair. "I think what we need to do is continue going in the direction we were walking and try to find a town or city for help."
"What if we come across an animal or something?" I asked him.
"Eve, what do you think I was doing down stairs, at the house?" He asks me, exasperatedly.
"Uh, packing food?" I sayed while giving him a questioning look.
"Well yes, but I also packed the cut-co knives you stash under the sink." He said with a grin.
"Oh, thats good then. I wish we had a gun." I said while frowning.
"Well, as you often say, our government is run by girl scouts." He said with a wink pointed towards my direction.
I chuckled, layed my head on his chest, and losed my eyes. "I'm so happy I have you."
"I love you." Marcus whispered into my ear and pulled me into a hug while we slowly drifted off to sleep.
