BOOM! I wake up in a
blinding light of red and gold with an unimaginable torrent of heat surrounding
me. I blindly claw my way out of bed to
a window and look out but what I see is almost unbelievable. The world is on fire and only the bodies of
the dead can be seen through the wreckage that is Boston.
I turn back to the bed and scream at Marcus to wake up. He is already awake but is frozen in shock at
the horror that surrounds us. I run to
him and slap him on the face to make him focus.
He shakes his head and yells at me, “Eve, we need to get the hell out of
here. Pack what you can carry and be
ready in two minutes. Let’s hope we
still have time.” He then ran out of
bed, pulled some pants and a shirt on, and ran down stairs to the kitchen.
I, terrified to my wits end, start to cry but force myself to
get dressed and start packing as many of our clothes as possible. Two and a half minutes later, Marcus yells at me
to get my ass down stairs and I immediately close the bags and scramble out the
door. The house is practically aflame
and all I can see is smoke. “Marcus where
are you? Help!”
“Down here.” He calls
and suddenly is no longer enveloped within the flames and smoke.
I run towards him and we gallop out the front door to find hell
itself. Burning bodies, and screaming
men and women in flames. “AAAHHH!” I scream and Marcus drags me towards the high
way. We run in the middle of the street
consumed within a funnel of fire and death.

After an unspeakable amount of time we find ourselves on the
free way off ramp but afterwards there is nothing. The freeway was a collapsed pile of rubble
and exploded cars. “Come on, we need to
find a way across.” Marcus then grabs my
left arm and we run down the side of the freeway were we notice a drainage
pipe that hadn’t collapsed during the chaos.
“Stay behind me and be ready for anything.”
“I am as ready as I can possible be in my current state of
mind. Don’t ask for more or I’ll have to
hurt you,” I tell Marcus and he nods understandingly. He drops down on all fours and crawls into
the pipe. I squirm for a second and then
do the same.
Luckily the pipe is clear and we crawl out the other side to
find ourselves in the open. The fire isn’t
as bad here and we can see forest nearby.
We begin to run again and don’t stop until hours later.

To be continued…
Please comment and give me your thoughts. This is the first time I'm ever showing anyone any of my written work and I want to know the truth about it. If you have any ideas of what can happen next let me know. If anyone finds this before the next one is written I will probably write chapter 2 in the next couple of weeks.
